Baltic Capesize Index
The BCI and its C5TC_182 timecharter basket: five routes and their weights, the BCI182 benchmark vessel, and the C2, C3, C5, C7 and C17 voyage routes.
The Baltic Capesize Index is the largest-weighted constituent of the Baltic Dry Index, contributing 40 percent of the composite. Its timecharter average C5TC_182 is built from five routes weighted C8 at 0.15, C9 at 0.125, C10 at 0.35, C14 at 0.25 and C16 at 0.125, all assessed on a 182,000 tonne deadweight benchmark vessel, with the headline index applying a multiplier of 0.11026.
The full article will set out each timecharter and voyage route with its full definition, the BCI182 vessel description and its four speed and consumption steps, the derived C5TC(180) series and its 3,503 constant, the retirement of C4 and C15, and how the C3 against C5 spread is read as a signal about Atlantic ore demand.
