Baltic Supramax Index

The BSI and its eleven-route S11TC basket, the geared BSI63 benchmark vessel, the BES Asia regional average, and the discontinuation of S6TC in June 2026.

The Baltic Supramax Index contributes 30 percent of the Baltic Dry Index. Its timecharter average S11TC covers eleven routes with weights from 0.05 to 0.15, on the BSI63 benchmark vessel: a 63,500 tonne deadweight geared bulk carrier with four 30 tonne cranes and four 12 cubic metre grabs. The gear is what separates the Supramax market from the gearless Capesize and Panamax trades even where the commodity is the same.

The full article will carry each of the eleven route definitions including the coal-basis S8 and S10 routes, the BSI63 vessel description, the three-route BES Asia regional basket published from Singapore, the derived Supramax 58 series, and the removal of S6TC in June 2026.
