BIMCO Bunker Terms 2018 is the standard contract between marine fuel sellers and buyers, first published in 1995 and revised in 2001, 2015 and 2018. It governs specification, sampling, delivery documentation, claims and liability for a bunker supply.
The full article will cover sampling under clause 4, with at least five samples and two retained by sellers for 45 days, and the BDN signature under clause 6(c), which acknowledges volume and delivery temperature only. It will also cover the 14-day quantity and 30-day quality claim periods in clause 9, and the clause 15 liability cap of the invoice value or USD 500,000, whichever is higher.
