Bunker mass flow meters

Coriolis mass flow meters for bunker custody transfer: ISO 22192:2021, Singapore SS 648:2024, and the Rotterdam and Antwerp-Bruges mandate from 2026.

A bunker mass flow meter (MFM) measures the mass of fuel transferred from a bunker vessel directly, replacing tank gauging as the basis of the quantity on the bunker delivery note. ISO 22192:2021 covers bunkering of marine fuel using the Coriolis mass flow meter system.

The full article will cover Singapore, where Port Marine Circular No. 12 of 2024 mandated SS 648:2024 for custody transfer to ocean-going ships from 1 April 2025. It will cover the Rotterdam and Antwerp-Bruges requirement for MFMs on bunker vessels from 1 January 2026, and how metered deliveries affect quantity disputes.
