Carrier emissions surcharges are the liner charges that recover EU ETS allowance costs, and increasingly FuelEU Maritime costs, from shippers. Maersk applied a standalone Emissions Surcharge to bookings with a price calculation date from 1 January 2024 where a load or discharge port is in ETS scope. They are billed separately from the bunker adjustment factor .
