China domestic emission control areas

China's domestic emission control areas for ship air emissions: coastal and inland areas, national sulphur limits, and the MSA non-availability procedure.

China’s domestic emission control areas are ship air-emission control areas established under Chinese national law rather than designated under MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 14.3. They apply sulphur and other limits in Chinese coastal and inland waters on top of the Annex VI baseline.

The full article will set out the governing Ministry of Transport and China Maritime Safety Administration instruments, the geographic scope of the coastal and inland areas, the applicable fuel limits and dates, and the procedure foreign ships follow when compliant fuel is not available. Each figure will be taken from the primary Chinese instrument.
