CONGENBILL is BIMCO’s charter-party bill of lading for general cargo, designed to be issued under the GENCON voyage charter party. It is a short document that incorporates the terms of the governing charter (its law and arbitration clause, general average provision and other terms) by reference, so that those terms follow the cargo into the hands of a receiver who was never a party to the charter. Its editions track the charter: CONGENBILL 1994, 2007 and 2016 have been used with GENCON 1994, and CONGENBILL 2022 is aligned with GENCON 2022.
