EGCS Technical Manual: ETM-A and ETM-B
The ETM is the approved manual that fixes an exhaust gas cleaning system's operating parameters, its verification procedure and its declared operating limits.
The EGCS Technical Manual is the approved document that turns a type of scrubber into a specific, checkable installation. Resolution MEPC.340(77) provides two forms: ETM-A under Scheme A, covering the certified unit and its operating parameters, and ETM-B under Scheme B, covering the approved continuous emission monitoring system and the unit it monitors.
The ETM-A carries an approved verification procedure written so it needs no specialised equipment and no in-depth system knowledge, covering a documentation check and a physical check. It also carries the declared operating limits that make the whole Scheme A logic work: if all relevant components and settings are within their approved ranges, performance is assumed compliant without continuous emission measurement. Both forms require the manufacturer to declare the minimum inlet water alkalinity referenced to ISO 9963-1:1994 and ISO 9963-2:1994.
The full article will set out what each manual must contain, which paragraph of the resolution requires each item, how the ETM interacts with the SOx Emissions Compliance Certificate and the EGC Record Book , and the amendment procedure when an installation is modified.
