Freightos Baltic Index (FBX)
FBX00 and the twelve lane indices: the median all-in FEU method, the median absolute deviation outlier test, and the BEISL and Freightos administrator split.
The Freightos Baltic Index is a daily container freight benchmark administered by Baltic Exchange Information Services Ltd with Freightos Ltd as calculating agent. It publishes a median all-in port to port price per forty foot non-refrigerated container across twelve tradelanes, plus a volume-weighted global index, drawn from spot rates supplied by freight forwarders and NVOCCs.
Its outlier handling differs from the Baltic’s ocean bulk method: a two-sided median absolute deviation test with coefficients set per index between 2 and 5, falling back to the median alone where more than half the submissions share one value. The full article will cover the twelve lane definitions, the ingestion and publication timetable, the annual review of tradelane volumes, and the split of responsibility between administrator and calculating agent.
