FuelEU Expulsion Order

A FuelEU expulsion order bars a ship from EU ports after it fails to hold a valid FuelEU document of compliance for two or more consecutive periods (Article 25(3)).

A FuelEU expulsion order is the enforcement measure in Article 25(3) of FuelEU Maritime , Regulation (EU) 2023/1805. Where a ship has failed to comply with Article 24, the obligation to hold a valid document of compliance, for two or more consecutive reporting periods and other enforcement measures have failed, an expulsion order can be issued; a ship flying the flag of a Member State can be detained by that State.
