FuelEU Verifier: Role, Independence and Accreditation

A FuelEU verifier assesses monitoring plans, verifies FuelEU reports and calculates compliance balances under Articles 11 to 16 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1805.

A FuelEU verifier is the accredited body that assesses a ship’s monitoring plan (Article 11), verifies its FuelEU report (Article 13), and calculates its compliance balance and any penalty (Article 16) under FuelEU Maritime . Article 12(1) requires the verifier to be independent from the company, and Article 14(1) requires accreditation by a national accreditation body under Regulation (EC) No 765/2008.
