ILO Convention 147: Merchant Shipping Minimum Standards 1976

ILO Convention No. 147, the Merchant Shipping (Minimum Standards) Convention 1976, was the port State control labour instrument before MLC 2006 took over.

ILO Convention No. 147, the Merchant Shipping (Minimum Standards) Convention, 1976, set minimum standards for safety, social security and shipboard conditions on merchant ships and gave port States a basis to inspect them. It remains one of the relevant instruments listed in Section 2.1 of the Tokyo MoU , which records its entry into force as 28 November 1981.
