MARPOL Annex IV Regulation 1: Definitions
MARPOL Annex IV Regulation 1 defines sewage, holding tank, nearest land, special area, passenger ship and the audit terms used across the sewage annex.
MARPOL Annex IV Regulation 1 holds the definitions on which the rest of MARPOL Annex IV turns. Regulation 1.3 defines sewage in four limbs (toilet and urinal drainage, medical-premises drainage, drainage from spaces containing living animals, and other waste waters mixed with those), Regulation 1.4 defines a holding tank, and Regulation 1.5 defines nearest land as the territorial-sea baseline, with a Great Barrier Reef line off north-eastern Australia.
