MARPOL Annex IV Revision at the IMO PPR Sub-Committee
The IMO PPR Sub-Committee is revising MARPOL Annex IV; a draft Sewage Record Book and a draft Sewage Management Plan were agreed in principle in February 2026.
The revision of MARPOL Annex IV is an IMO work output at the Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response aimed at the lifetime performance of sewage treatment plants. At PPR 13, 9 to 13 February 2026, the working group agreed in principle a draft Regulation 11A on a Sewage Record Book and a draft Regulation 11B on Sewage Management Plans, subject to further review, and the correspondence group was re-established. PPR 12 in 2025 asked MEPC to extend the target completion year to 2027. Nothing has been adopted.
