The Mediterranean Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control was signed at Malta on 11 July 1997 and has its Secretariat in Alexandria, Egypt. Its 2024 annual report records eleven member States, 5,993 inspections and 196 detentions in 2024; France became a member with effect from 1 January 2026.
