OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum)
The industry association behind SIRE, TMSA and the mooring and terminal guidance used across the tanker sector.
The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) is the association of oil companies with an interest in the shipment and terminal handling of crude oil, oil products, petrochemicals and gas. Its output is the reference standard across much of the tanker sector, and it holds consultative status at the IMO.
Its best-known instruments are the Ship Inspection Report Programme, which underpins SIRE tanker inspections , and the Tanker Management and Self Assessment programme. It also publishes the mooring equipment guidelines, terminal interface guidance and a large body of safety recommendations that charterers and terminals incorporate by reference into their own requirements.
The full article will cover the forum’s membership and governance, the SIRE programme and its 2.0 revision, TMSA , the vessel particulars questionnaire, the mooring and terminal guidance series, and the relationship between OCIMF’s tanker-side regime and the dry bulk vetting platforms.
