Port Reception Facilities Database in IMO GISIS
The IMO GISIS Port Reception Facilities Database: what ports declare, the MARPOL facility types it lists, and how ship masters use it in voyage planning.
The Port Reception Facilities Database (PRFD) is the module of the IMO Global Integrated Shipping Information System (GISIS) in which Parties record the reception facilities available at their ports and terminals under each MARPOL Annex. IMO circular MEPC.1/Circ.834/Rev.1 of 1 March 2018 confirms the database as the reference for facility information and lists the facility types, which for Annex V include E-waste and, separately, cargo residues harmful and not harmful to the marine environment.
The full article will cover what a port entry contains, how Parties update it, how alleged inadequacies are reported, and the limits of a declared facility as evidence of availability on a given day. Its use for bulk cargo residues is described in Annex V HME cargo residues, E-waste and hold-wash water .
