The Convention on a Code of Conduct for Liner Conferences was adopted at Geneva on 6 April 1974 and entered into force on 6 October 1983. It regulated conference membership, cargo sharing, freight rates and surcharges; Article 16 treats surcharges for sudden or extraordinary cost increases as temporary, and Article 17 deals with currency changes.
